Handling Benefits Rate Start Date for yearend new hires
Summary
Benefits rates for new hires at yearend should be effective the following year despite being hired in the current yearContent
Due to a waiting period, a new hire's benefits may not be effective in the same year that he/she is hired. The New Hire life event is triggered on the hire date (i.e. 11/15/16) which results in the system using the current year's rates. However, the actual Coverage Start Date may not be effective until the following year (i.e. 1/1/17). We've had to create another life event, Administrative, in order to ensure that the following year's rates are used. Please share if there's a recommended configuration to have the rates on the New Hire life event use the Coverage Start Date. Otherwise, is there
