How can we stop a specific leave to stop accruing when on an extended leave?

What are the options to stop an absence plan stop accruing when on extended leave? I believe it cannot be achieved via configuration yet and the only option is a fast formula. If that is correct, can any one of you share any fast formulas that you might have developed, please?

I guess the fast formula has to stop accruing when on extended leave, prorate the accrual when the employee returns.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
