Is there any way to view the amount of characters a field is using?

I currently have an issue whereby an employee is completing some of her objectives within Goals.

She has pasted in text from another document, but it is saying the text is greater than the 4000 character limit for the field.

However, using multiple external text editors and methods, the character limit is showing as 3423 characters (without spaces/formatting), so we can't input the text in to the field.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there any way to count the characters within a field.

It would be useful if certain fields within the application had a character count on them, especially if there is a hard limit.

Howdy, Stranger!
