Should Saved history show in User Interface Text EditorContent

We have made a small change to labelling on a button in compensation using the User Interface Text Editor. We have replaced the text 'Apply to Team' to Apply to Entire Hierarchy.
When I save the change in the sandbox, it shows in the Text Replacement History. However when I publish the sandbox, the record of the change disappears. It was my understanding that changes would remain in this area as both an audit trail and also as a means to revert changes should it be required.
As it stands, outside of our own documentation there is no record of this change. If anyone else has used this functionality can you confirm which behaviour you are seeing. Either:
