Best Approach To Mass End Date Absence Plan and Renroll to New Absence Plan

We have an absence plan that starts 07/30 of each year, but the absence plan configuration start date is incorrect. It should be 1/1 to 12/31. I understand a new absence plan has to be created, as the duration date is locked after creation. Employees are already enrolled in this plan and scheduling absences. I wanted to hear the best approach for others that had to take this action.  

My thought process:

-Create the new absence plan with correct duration period

-End date current plan employees enrolled too (Is there an HDL template to add the end date? Any special things to consider such as scheduled future absences? Best approach to handle this?)
