Can we use JCS instead of JCS-SX to create extensions for Oracle HCM Cloud?

We are in the process of evaluating options for creating extensions to the HCM Cloud application. However, we want to use JCS instead of JCS-SX to build and deploy these extensions?

We will have an IDCS and DBCS (Autonomous) that we will be purchasing to go with this.

I have seen documentation that said that this is possible but wanted to know from the experts here if this a road we should take. This is one of the pictures that I have seen on an Oracle site that explains how to do this.
