Balance feed by Element Entry update

Hi,
We have an element which will feed an balance definition which is further used to deduct the employee salary. For example, if element etnry value is 300, then balance is fed as 300 to the balance group, and employee is deducted say 100 based on some criteria.
Now, if the element entry value is modified in "UPDATE" mode ( for ex: Effective 18th May) from 300 to 500, then the system is passing a total value of 800 ( 300+500) to the balance feed and the employee is getting deducted 266.67. Actually the requirement is system should pass either the pro-rated value ( 383.86 ) or atleast the latest value which is on last day of the month i.e 500.
