How to generate numbers sequentially and automatically for each employment record entered by a user

Content

Hi experts,

I am trying to find out the solution for a customer requirement: to generate numbers sequentially and automatically for each employment record entered by a user (hire, transfer, promotion, termination, etc.). Numbers must be gapless.
I have created a table validated values set with a query like:
(select distinct max(****_ATTRIBUTE_NUMBER1) + 1 as ORD_NUM from PER_ALL_ASSIGNMENTS_M) VVF_ORDERS

And assigned this value set to a segment in PER_ASG_DFF.
I am able to get a new number from the list and it gets saved into the table.

Howdy, Stranger!
