Myth: You can't report trends in OTBI
Trend reports can be produced in any subject area which has a "Time" dimension folder (as of 19B 63 out of 78 subject areas have "Time"). It is important to understand that different subject areas have different anchor dates (the date that "Time" is linked with).
More information on subject areas and their anchor dates can be found here: https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/business-intelligence/index.html.
