What is the best option to manage a Certification obtained by a number of Courses each with their own renewal cadence?

Ideally we would have the Courses grouped in a Specialization (which itself would be the 'Certification'), with the Specialization assigned and the Courses separately assigned with their own renewal patterns. 

The difficulty is that when the Courses renew the Specialization is still marked as complete (even though when opening the Specialization from the transcript, it shows that not all required Activities are completed), it does not show up in My Learning - we have been told by support that this is expected behavior.
