Gender field validation not working in RUI

Set gender field to be mandatory for both new contact and edit contact.


I set up a rule for Family and Emergency contacts for Gender to be required in both New and Edit contact.  It is allowing me to save the record without entering the Gender.  The Gender does have the asterick (*) by it indicating it is a required field.
