Issue with Confirm Receipt Workflow Notification

The customer is using custom receipt workflow functionality. The program is scheduled to run on daily basis. As per the process, the requester receives notification for overdue receipts. In some cases, the requester will click on the option "did not receive", if they have not received the goods/service.
As per the functionality, if the requester clicks on "did not receive", notification should be triggered to the buyer. This is happening correctly.
But when the scheduled run of the confirm receipt program happens the next day, it is again sending a notification to the requester, though the requester had clicked on did not receive the previous day.
