Need to clarify the Access Group and Learning Assignment

Dear All,
I'm new for the learning module so need to clarify the few things, when assigning the learner to the learning program( Access /Learning Assignment)
01). When filling the Access page there are a couple of stages,Under the self-service setting, there is an option "view mode" it indicates the No Access, Details view and Summary view so I want to know the above 3 points in details for what we are using these things and what are the importance.
02).2nd stage is "learner self- Sevice" under this topic there are 2 options, "Active, Requested" and also Manager has "Active, Requested,\and Request Approval" so i want to know what are the differences and importance above theses things.
