Using Groovy to integrate data between differrent PBCS applications

Is it possible to use groovy to integrate data between PBCS applications?

We are planning to migrate several Planning applications from on-premise to the cloud. Today we have business rules that execute Essbase custom defined functions in order to load data from one Planning application into another. The business rules are executed from task lists.

Is it possible to emulate this in the cloud by use of Groovy? When I read about Groovy, I get the impression that it's only possible to move data between plan types within the same application.

Or are there other ways to accomplish this?
