How to Inactivate a Department in Workforce Structures via HCM Data Loader HDL 19D or later

Summary

When a set of Departments is out of date and needs to be decommissioned, users may do this process one by one in the UI, or an HDL Load can be performed to bulk load the date-effective status change.

Content

To do this action (change status to "Inactive"), the user will need to load at "Organization.dat" HDL.  In this HDL, you will need two discriminators:

Organization

OrgUnitClassification

Here is where it can get confusing: In the past, the "Status" was loaded and altered on the "Organization" discriminator, and if you do a web search, there are a number of topics that give advice on using this old method (much of the content on Oracle sites).  I cannot say exactly when, but Oracle moved the "Status" from Organization to OrgUnitClassification, and so that is where you would now put the "I" under "Status" to create the inactivation.  A sample of my HDL .dat file is below:
