Check In / Check Out Functionality in BIP/OTBI?

Summary

We are looking for a function that allows code to be 'locked' if checked out by another user.

Does anyone have ideas on how to 'check out' a data model or template in OTBI or BIP? We have many developers and often there are conflicting request on the same report which leads to coding issues. We are not able to use any kind of GIT or code archiving tool with Cloud, but does anyone else have ideas?
