Workflow Approval routing slip error.

Requirement : When HR perform salary change on employee, it should go to HR director for approval and FYI to 2 level managers. We have set this workflow and this is working fine.

Issue: If this action is performed on a Manager who does not have 2 level hierarchy. We are getting error saying" "Error occurred while displaying History Tree table. Error in evaluation routing slip. Check the underlying exception and correct the error in the routing slip."

How can we build exceptional conditions for this to avoid this scenario.
