summarizeMetricsData - Too many requests with in a short period of time

We do have roughly 300 virtual machines & we have written scripts to collect the metrics using https://docs.cloud.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/api/#/en/monitoring/20180401/MetricData/SummarizeMetricsData.

However, we are not able to retrieve data for most of the virtual machines & getting error response code as 429 stating "TooManyRequests" (Maximum rate exceeded).

Is this some type of limit from Oracle? Please suggest on this.
