What is the true retention period for Audit data?

From browser UI the most you can view\download is "Last 180 Days" but I noticed that REST and epmautomate may support downloading more using the "All" parameter.  My question is what's the official data retention period for Audit data and can we really download "all" Audit data history using Rest or epmautomate without restriction?  Thanks

 

Export Audit

Number of days for which audit records should be exported.

Possible values are.

• 1: Export audit records for the last 24 hours
• 2: Export audit records for the last two days
• 7: Export audit records for the last seven days
• 30: Export audit records for the last 30 days
