Default Assignment Rules by creating courses

Hi everyone,

when creating a course, there is the tab "Default Assignment Rules, which contains:

- Initial Assignment Status

- Validity Period Options

- Expiration

 

After trying different values for these rules and studying Oracle documents, I am still not sure which effect these 3 rules have.

 

At my tests it didn't make a difference if I chose "Active" or "Requested" as the Initial Assignment Status.

Does anybody know, what the effects of this setting are?

 

For "Validity Period Options" I can choose between "After completion" and "After Due Date". When do choose which of them? Is anyone expereinced with it?

 

And for the expiration: I understand it means, when do I have to repeat the course. When is the completion not valid anymore. Is this right?
