Request New Position - Parent Position

We are trying to use Request a New Position and Parent Position seems to default based on the person requesting the position.  How do i make this not happen.

Request A New Position - Error You must provide a value for the attribute Code (Doc ID 2544765.1)-Also is this document true.  We manual assign our Code.  It appears to post ok and approvals work, but what will happen if i don't use auto generate.
