Parents' status within alternative hierarchy do not change.

When we are changing the status from "locked" to "unlocked" of base entities, we see that in the primary hierarchy, all the above parents and grandparents will change status as well. However, we do not see this happening in the alternative structures. We see the base entity changing to "unlocked", however, the (grand)parents in the alternative hierarchies do not change. 

Is this normal behaviour? This seems counterintuitive to me.
