Need to update the grade of an employee from past date

Hi Experts,

One employee got promoted on 01-Apr-2020 and after that date multiple assignment updates are there for that employee.

While Promoting the Employee, HR Manager forgot to change the grade of the employee which is a part of promotion.

Now we need to update the grade of the employee from 01-Apr-2020 without effecting the assignment records before and after 01-Apr-2020.

Can any one suggest any way to do this.
