Set Canvas Filter values based on Repository Variables

Organization Name
Verizon Business Group
Description
We would like to have the ability to set default canvas filter values to something that was previously set via the RPD initialization block that sets our repository variables and, on top of it, use math functions like TIMESTAMPADD, as we can do now in Answers.
Use Case and Business Need
We need this in order to create exec-level projects with flexibility of setting canvas filter values based on pre-set repository variables.
More details
The existing Relative Time filter has limited options and the time period is relative to today. Previous 3 months = previous 90 days not actual previous 3 complete months. In addition, Relative Time is always set to "limited data values by" = Auto and cannot be changed to None when in use.
Using the expression filter as the canvas filter is also limited, not aesthetically pleasing (execs do not want to see the actual codes as part of the filter, they want to see the values).

Strongly agree, calender filters in DV are too limited, especially when using a Fiscal Calendar which makes heavy use of RPD variables and objects. Also need the ability to disable the "auto" setting when using expression filters or variable filters, it really should be None by default.

Agree with the disabling of the Limit Values By= "Auto" setting. We manually change those to "None" 100% of the time.

This is a critical need for our executive KPI reporting to ensure trends become as dynamic as we need them to be. There is much more flexibility to handle this in Answers. We are limited by this for our DV scorecards and having to do our best to work around it, but it's a significant gap in functionality to leverage our repository variables to set default trends based on the max dates we have available for different datasets (and use date math/TIMESTAMPADD to set start periods based on the needs of the business).

use the Utilization block , RPD variables or dynamic filtering that OBIEE currently has.

We really need this. It's really limiting the capabilities to properly show dynamic trends. The current filtering default options do not suffice. We need parity with the features available in Answers prompts.

This is currently an active project and being worked on by the development team, but we don't have an ETA yet.

@Greg Faris what is your workarround at the moment? We use OBIEE prompts at the moment as workarround.

User_7CMER We don't really have a workaround. You can try to use expression filters, but they're too complicated for most users to easily modify quickly and don't really work as true interactive filters (i.e., dropdown). OBIEE prompts would probably work too but then you have to steer away from native DV and embed in an Answers dashboard. Looks like the status changed to Planned on this, so that's great to see!
