How have you tracked Red/Yellow/Green status in PEM?

We are implementing Project Execution Management (PEM), and want to know how you track the project and task status for executive reporting?  In the past, we used the standard red/yellow/green stoplight status', but I didn't see anything out-of-the-box for that. 

What have you done?  Is there something you recommend?
