How do other clients send confirmation e-mails to internal candidates?

ORC offers the option of sending automated confirmation e-mails to candidates by using the notification in Recruiting Content Library called "Job Apply Thank You Notification". This works all fine for external candidates, but the same notification is not triggering for internal candidates even though you can create same notification with visibility set to "Internal".

Oracle Support have confirmed that it is not possible to send automated confirmation emails to internal candidates - this functionality only works for external candidates.

I guess it is pretty common requirement to send same confirmation to internal candidates - so I am wondering how other clients are achieving this.
