Can you pause an initiative?

I would like to pause on some initiatives so that they doesn't apply to new hires between 11/15 and 12/31, however, I want to continue other initiatives  during this time frame.

If we put an Initiative Stop Date it doesn't let us remove the stop date after it has passed.

I don't want to cancel these initiatives and create new initiatives because I have renewals set up on these ones.  

Any recommendations?
