How to correct a position code on existing position

Hi, I want to correct a position code on the existing and active position. I have tried to use HSDL, entering the current position ID, the original  position effective start date  and using Action Reason code PER_POS_UPD or PER_PROMOTION or PER_REORGANIZATION. I enter the new code in Position code field but I receive this error:

The value of the attribute PositionCode isn't valid.

Is it possible to correct the position code and how? Thank you so much for your help!
