Start Date Displayed on Personal Details Page

We receive a large volume of questions about the start date field in the personal details page.... is it possible to hide it from the UI? What other solutions are there?

Hi community,

 

We receive a large number of questions regarding the start date field on the personal details page because of the misleading label of "start date", our users often draw the conclusion that this means the start date should correspond with the person's hire date...

The start date field actually represents the date for which the piece of information that is being displayed actually began, and therefore I wonder if other customers have experienced similar confusion from their users? If so, how did you tackle this field to help make the experience more intuitive? Immediately, I thought "Can we hide the field?!" - so if we can, great! But, I would love to hear any additional ideas or feedback on the topic in the case you have them!
