Combing Accounts and or Parents in FRS Report

Hello - does anyone know why we can't combine multiple accounts or multiple parents into one line on an FRS reports.  When I do this and run the report, each account/parent goes onto its own line, which is not preferred.  (In the old EBS systems we could do this for financial reporting.)  It is not efficient to continue to make new parents for every single possible combination of combining accounts for various report.  (Same thing happens in SmartView.)  Thanks in advance!
