Run Grade Step Progression Process using different effective dates

Has anyone come across a scenario where the requirement is to uplift employees grade step via progression ladders using different effective dates. The difficulty is the payroll processes in the middle of the month and the requirement is for all employees who have different effective dates throughout the current  period to be processed all  in the current month. We know cloud has standard functionality that can manually run the Run Grade Step Progression process with different effective dates multiple times. Wondered if anyone has come up with a less administrative effort than that.
