Best practice for Daily reconcilements

Currently my business is trying to figure out the best option for setting up daily reconcilements in ARCS. The reconcilements are very straight forward, comparing a GL account to a 3rd party account (there is very little activity, some accounts have 1 item a day at most). We need to make sure the method in which we do it will incorporate the following. 

1.Bring in new balances daily. 

2. Allow for an archive/snapshot of that recon for every day.

3. Allow for it to be prepared and approved daily and show record of such. 

 

In our test environment we have created daily periods for several months and have completed all mapping and automation to create recons daily and bring in the new information. I am trying to see if there is any other way to accomplish daily reconcilements and meet the above criteria. The amount of periods we would have to add to production is incredibly large (looking at 20 years worth of daily periods) and will likely annoy the end users. We would also run into the issue of a large # of emails being sent out for late reconcilements. Any ideas would
