Query to get the scheduled work hours of employee from shifts the employee has assigned

I have a requirement to report the weekly work hours the employee is scheduled for. Employee will be assigned work schedule and work schedule will be liked with pattern and shift. If a person is assigned to a weekly shift of 8 hrs, his weekly scheduled work hour is 40 hrs. Challenge I am facing is if he assigned to multiple shifts and if there are holidays during the week, how to calculate the scheduled work hours from the shift. If you could share some logic or tables or queries regarding that would be great help.
