Calculate the number of overdue days in a notification

Hi there

I have this requirement in an alert.

"Please note that your course is X days overdue". This shoots 7 and 14 days after the assigned Due date.

How to calculate the number of days overdue? Should be something like sysdate minus due date but what is the formula?
