Date Filter with Default value Fails

I am new to OTBI and have tried to follow the various posts etc. about creating a report with a filter on the criteria and have used a presentation variable.  However, I cannot get the filter value to use a default value of current date when I use report_date as the prompt.  I have tried to set the prompt with a default value but have been unsuccessful.  I get an error of A date value was expected.

Any help would be appreciated.
