Changing Fiscal Year start period

We have a requirement to change our fiscal year start period from Apr to Jan. To do that we're looking at finishing year 1 (Apr-Mar), having one short year (Apr-Dec) and then start a new year (Jan-Dec)

Is this possible in FCCS? If anyone has done this, can you explain how you got it to work?
