Parental leave rules in Germany
We have some complex rules around this type of leave which we are trying to implement in the system. Currently we have the absence plan and type set up without any further validation or evaluation. However, here are some example scenarios:
- For every full month of parental leave the annual holiday entitlement is to reduce by 1/12th. Annual leave plan is front-loaded and runs from January to December.
- Should employee decide to work part-time during their parental leave, this means that the annual leave entitlement will not be reduced for this period.
- Annual leave which was not taken before the start of the parental leave will not expire on 30 June of the following calendar year but at the end of the calendar year which follows the end of the parental leave.
