Can First fiscal year will be less than 12 months

Oldest date place in service is 1-jan-2011 and we are implementing FA for USA (Jan- Dec) and India (Apr-Mar) . For USA we will define the Fiscal year from 01-jan-2011 to 31-Dec-2011. But what about India fiscal calendar? from which date it will be defined.
