Is it possible to defer Revenue Recognition for Subscription item until it is billed and shipped?
We need help with one of our OM - RM scenarios.
The business sells memberships to access a survey. The survey often takes some period of time to get created before the customer is able to access it. There is a business requirement to recognize revenue for access to the survey over fixed periods (i.e. 12 months) under two conditions:
- The revenue recognition start date is when the order is booked (not a problem)
- The revenue is not recognized until a point in the future (this is a problem)
- Items are set up as “subscription” to pass the time-based fields on the item from the order in order management to revenue management
