Learning visibility to Absences

Is there a way for the Learning administrators to have visibility to an employee's absence when assigning an instructor lead course/offering?  Currently, the course is assigned, the employee has to notify the training department that he is unavailable and then he is rescheduled.  A check against the absence module when assigning the course would be ideal.
