Customization using Application Composer - ERP and SCM Applications

Hi,

We have made customizations using Application Composer. We have created 442 custom objects and 10000+ custom fields have been added across new object and standard objects. Due this, the existing business processes are getting impacted and are very slow.

Is there any guideline on how much customization can be done using Application Composer and is it advisable to create a completely new module using Application or should this be done using PAAS application.
