Run business rule on CDM data load for specific period range

I see CDM includes a runtime variable value type of "POV Period" and "POV Year" to enable period and year to be passed to a business  but the problem is that the CDM load is multi period so I'd need to capture the period range (start period and end period) to pass into my business rule.  Is there any way to do this in the UI?  I could go the groovy route but that's a last resort.
