Profile segment missing

Originally 4 profile segments were created- Company, Account, Division Specific 1, Division Specific 2.
Last time the profiles were created on Aug-16th and we could see all these 4 segments existing in the application.
Today we observed that 'Company' segment has disappeared from PROD instance and 'Account' segment has disappeared from TEST instance.
This has happened in spite of the fact that if profiles are created the Profile Segment settings cannot be changed.

Can anyone assist on how this could have happened?
