What are pros / cons of using different repeating periods for front loaded plans?

Front loaded plans receive award once a year on the plan term start date. What are pros / cons of using biweekly, monthly or yearly repeating periods? No impact on accrual, given they get it anyways once a year, but is there any other impact to consider? Maybe reporting? I don't see a reason to use any other frequency except yearly in this case, which is why I'm asking...
