Attach Lease Details Report is ending up in error and thus cannot amend the lease

I have created and activated a lease. I was trying to amend the lease by clicking Attach Lease Detail Report for the lease. The process runs but the Amend Lease button is not getting enabled. 

I found following error later in the validation tab :

"The Lease detail report generation failed. The report regeneration will be attempted in the next run of the report generation background process".

Why this process is getting failed and how can I amend the lease?
