Updating a contingent worker to an employee

Hello,
Would someone be able to let me know what the correct process is for changing an existing Contingent Worker to an employee? The person will remain with the same legal employer and business unit but move to a new position, no break in service. I figured it could be done by simply terminating the Contingent Worker and effectively re-hiring as an employee, but wanted to check if that's the best approach?
