How do we apply project costs to existing assets in the assets module?

Summary:

We have existing CIP assets in our assets module that we would like to capitalize project costs towards it. However, when you add an asset at the project level it comes in as a new asset. What would be the best way to get these project costs towards this existing CIP asset.
