If there is a future line manager change, where does the absence approval go

Summary:

I'd like to check functionality if there was a future dated line manager change say in December, and an employee asks for leave in October, but the leave is to take place after that change date, who does the request go to? the current or future line manager? We have an example where it went to the current line manager, however they cannot authorise so it sits in limbo.
