How to enable sub segment option for main segment in existing ARCS application

Content (required):

Currently we are not enabled one of the segment as sub segment for Group details, but now client is asking to enable subsegment option for the segment so that they can see the segment value in Group details. Please help me here with solution to enable subsegment option in existing application. I have tried to enable sub segment option after deleting all the profiles and locking all periods, but still option is not enabled for me. I can create new segment, but system is not allowing me to enable sub segment.
