Can Resource Class be updated when Resource Breakdown Structure allows changes at project level

Summary:

Can the resource class associated with a resource created at the project level be updated?

Content (required):

RBS configured to allow changes at project level, resource created at project level incorrectly associated with resource class of labor, the resource has been assigned at the task level (with no quantity or rate) and the plan is baselined.

In the Planning Resource Breakdown Structure on the Planning tab resource class can be changed but this doesn't appear to flow to the resource at the task level.

Does this functionality exist, to update the resource class? Is it limited to only resources not assigned and/or baselined within the plan?
